AO Thunder: A New Chapter

AO Manchester Thunder will officially become AO Thunder from 1 October, marking the next stage of the club’s partnership with leading electrical retailer AO.

The updated name and identity will begin appearing across the club’s digital channels from October, ahead of the release of the 2027 Netball Super League fixtures and the start of preparations for the new season.

The transition builds on the naming rights partnership announced between AO Thunder and AO in February 2026 and further strengthens the relationship between two organisations.

While the team name is changing, AO Thunder’s identity, heritage and connection to Manchester remain firmly at the heart of the club.

The transition will see the new AO Thunder name and identity introduced across the club’s website, social media channels and communications, with physical assets moving across to the new branding as part of preparations for the 2027 season.

Gill Porter, Commercial Director, AO Thunder said:

“Moving forward as AO Thunder marks an exciting next step in our partnership with AO and reflects the strength of the relationship we’ve built together.

“From 1 October, the change will be reflected across our digital channels, website and communications, alongside the introduction of our updated AO Thunder logo. Supporters will begin to see the new identity rolled out as we move into preparations for the 2027 season.

“Thunder has a proud history in Manchester and that remains fundamental to who we are. Our roots, our community and our commitment to representing Manchester and the wider North West remain as strong as ever.

“As we look ahead to 2027, we’re excited to bring the AO brand even further into the Thunder identity and continue building on what has already been a hugely successful partnership, both on and off the court.”

Vicky Monk, Retail Director at AO, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see the reigning Netball Super League champions officially become AO Thunder.

“As a business with our roots firmly in the North West, this partnership has never just been about a logo on a dress; it’s about supporting a brilliant club that inspires so many young people in the region to get into netball and sport in general.

“We can’t wait to cheer the team on, as they begin their title defence in 2027.”

The club’s new 2027 playing dresses will be revealed ahead of the new season, with the new designs set to further bring the AO brand to life as part of the evolving partnership.

The change follows a historic 2026 season in which AO Thunder lifted the Netball Super League title, and the club will begin its title defence in 2027.

With Season Tickets on sale now, attention will soon turn to the 2027 season, with Netball Super League fixtures released on 5 October, followed by general sale tickets from 12 October. Further details about the new season will be announced over the coming weeks.
