Fever’s outstanding Maverick victory

For the third time this season, the Green Army broke their own regular season home attendance record, with 11, 841 fans packing out RAC Arena.

Q1 Fever 20 | Mavericks 15
Tensions were high from the opening whistle, with the Mavericks chance at a maiden finals series and Fever’s fixture in the coming weeks on the line.

Shanice Beckford’s ability to both be available for the ball and drag Mavericks Olivia Lewis and Kim Jenner out of the circle was integral to the success of the quarter.

Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard was able to reach through both defensive players in goals and utilise her freedom from opposition thanks to Beckford scoring 19 goals for the quarter.

Q2 Fever 34 | Mavericks 30
In Goal Keeper, Kadie-Ann Dehaney didn’t let Eleanor Cardwell get a second chance at any missed goals, taking two rebounds and an intercept for the quarter.

Dehaney was joined by both Fran Williams and Sunday Aryang rotating in Goal Defence. Aryang kept the pressure on with two deflections and an intercept, the pair maintaining a barrier between the Mavericks and goal.

Kelsey Browne came on to join the mid-court ranks, captain Jess Anstiss and vice-captain Alice Teague-Neeld ability to prevail against the Mavericks defence to control the ball allowed for a seamless entrance.

Q3 Fever 56 | Mavericks 43
To kick off the second half, Head Coach Dan Ryan rotated Browne into Wing Attack, Anstiss into Centre and Teague-Neeld into Goal Attack.

Teague-Neeld was quick and concise in Goal Attack, complimenting Fowler-Nembhard with 10 goal assists, 13 feeds and her own goal to cap off a great quarter from the duo.

Williams and Dehaney continued their defensive dominance, allowing Fever to widen their winning margin to 13 goals at three quarter time.

Q4 Fever 76 | Mavs 57
The Mavericks came out in the fourth quarter and fought for their season, but it just wasn’t enough to defeat the girls in the green dress.

Teague-Neeld took home Fever’s first super shot for the game in front of a roaring Green Army, which she managed to closely follow with a second.

Williams and Dehaney put on an incredible show in defence, a fitting end to their outstanding game.

Fowler-Nembhard finished her regular season with 67 goals for the game, reflected in her 99 per cent shooting accuracy.
