Pulse set for new era in NSL 2

Thursday’s landmark announcement confirmed Pulse as one of eight teams to take the Super League forward, and it’s a challenge CEO Sam Bird believes the club are in perfect position to take advantage of:

“We are very proud to be a key club in the professional NSL, we recognise this is an amazing opportunity to inspire Londoners to watch and play netball and a responsibility to do all we can to bring success to our sport.”

“This is an outcome we have been preparing for and ready for, for some time.  Over the past few years we have set ourselves the targets and expectations as a club to be a professional sporting environment – from the venue we play in, to the way we interact with our fanbase and community to the emphasis put on developing our pathway – the foundations are already there. We’re excited now for this to be a reality across the league and for this league to become world leading.”

As part of the next step teams will be expected to deliver on a number of ambitious plans designed to complete a 10-year journey to full professionalisation and a thrilling and compelling domestic competition.

With proven international players, a world class home venue and a commitment to developing the netballers of the future, London Pulse welcome the new era of netball in the United Kingdom, with a message to their fans and the sport – ‘We are ready’

Arena Led Expansion

50% of the league’s games will be played at arena venues up and down the country, and Pulse are proud to work alongside London’s iconic Copper Box Arena which will continue to play host to all home games for the club.

Situated in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and a short walk to the bars and restaurants of surrounding areas the Copper Box provides the perfect setting for an afternoon or evening of high quality sport and entertainment.

Loyal Fanbase

London Pulse have built a strong and loyal fanbase over their time in the Super League, with attendance numbers hitting over 3,500 for a single match this season.

World Class Performance

As the league strives for a world class competitive environment, Pulse moves forward in the knowledge that the team, its coaching staff and its players have evolved into a competitive force across their 6 years in the Netball Super league.

A win against Strathclyde Sirens in May confirmed a place in the top four for the third successive season, meaning that in three of their five full seasons in existence Pulse will compete in the semi-finals. 2023 was the club’s first Grand Final, and a Super League title remains the target for this year’s squad and beyond.

Home Grown Pathway Success

Priding themselves on a rich blend of homegrown players and talented international imports, the Pulse playing roster reflects the commitment to a successful environment at all age groups. On top of Super League progress, the club’s U21, U19, U17 and U15 teams have all won gold across various England Netball NPL competitions over the past 2 seasons.

At international level the latest England cohort will feature five Pulse players in the senior Vitality Roses squad and a further three in the Futures programme, while Nichole Taljaard (South Africa) and Jeresia McEachrane (Trinidad & Tobago) are the latest international players to wear the Pink and Black dress.

Seven members of the current playing staff have played for and progressed through the Pulse pathway programme and that becomes nine if you include training partners while many more play at franchises in the 2024 Super League. Pulse looks forward to maintaining that commitment to youth development.

With Thursday’s exciting news meaning that Pulse can plan for the future as a franchise, the whole club now looks forward to maintaining its focus on the 2024 Super League and the quest for a maiden championship title in the NSL.
