Wales Netball strengthens performance team as Ymladd 2030 vision accelerates.
As Wales Netball proudly marks its 80th year of incorporation and the start of a Commonwealth Games year, the organisation today announces a series of key appointments and opportunities that reinforce its commitment to building a strong ‘team behind the team’ as part of its Ymladd 2030 strategy. These changes come at a pivotal moment as preparations intensify for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and Sydney 2027 Netball World Cup.
Pamela Cookey joins as Performance Advisor
Former England Netball Captain, Commonwealth Games and Netball World Cup medallist and respected netball leader, Pamela Cookey has been appointed as Performance Advisor for Wales Netball for the next 12 months. Working as a consultant alongside Wales Netball’s senior leadership team, Pamela will help shape the Welsh performance pathway from grassroots to Dragons, through to Feathers, ensuring a seamless progression for athletes and coaches across the performance structure and preparing them for further success on the international stage.
Expanded leadership roles to drive success
Melanie (Mel) Hellerman, former Welsh Feather and Wales Netball’s Elected Board Director with a remit for participation, has taken on the additional part-time role of Performance Manager, bringing invaluable experience and insight to the organisation.
Reinga Bloxham’s remit has also been expanded from Head Coach of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions Dragons to include Director of Netball for the Welsh Feathers, strengthening alignment across the performance pathway.

As part of its transformation, Wales Netball continues to recruit for operational roles which are critical to supporting the new pathway structure and the journey towards Ymladd 2030.
