Cassidy to play 6th season
Sunshine Coast Lightning is thrilled to announce the return of Mahalia Cassidy who has committed to the Club for another season.
The fierce and dynamic midcourter will enter her sixth season with Lightning after signing with the Club in 2021.
Cassidy has well and truly made her mark at the Club, securing a number of accolades throughout her time including the Player of the Year and the Players’ Player Award, as well as notching up 100 National League matches during the recent season.
Sunshine Coast Lightning Head Coach Belinda Reynolds said she was excited to offer Cassidy a contract for the 2026 season and spoke highly of what she brings to the team.
“Harls is the kind of player you want on your team. She’ll put her body on the line when it matters most, she’ll back up her teammates, and she’ll leave everything out there until the final whistle,” she said.
“She’s had a fantastic season and we’ve seen how seamlessly she’s able to switch from Wing Defence into Centre, which is a great asset for the team.
“I’m thrilled to welcome her back for another season and I can’t wait to see her take her game to the next level next year.”
With Cassidy’s signing confirmed, there are four remaining contracts to be finalised ahead of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
