Welsh Feathers Enter World Netball World Rankings Top Six for the First time Following Annual Update.
World Netball (WN) has today released the latest WN World Rankings which follows the annual update performed to ensure that the rankings reflect the most current form of the international teams.
The update see Wales Netball move into the top six for the first time after an undefeated 2024/2025 campaign.
This annual update removes matches played in the rating period from 1st July 2020 to 28th February 2022 and halves the weighting assigned to matches played between 1st March 2023 to 29th February 2024.
Please note that the rating period between 1st July 2020 and 28th February 2022 was extended beyond the usual 12-months due to very few international matches being played during this time because of COVID-19.
Any matches played after 29th February 2024, are still weighted at 100%.
There are no positional changes to the teams in the top five, however New Zealand have reduced the gap between them and 1st place Australia from 12 to nine points, whilst Jamaica have further cemented their place in 3rd with England now seven points behind the Sunshine Girls in 4th.
Other notable changes include, Zambia moving up two places to 15th and Botswana moving up four places to 20th, due to poorer results dropping off from 2020-2022.
Further down the table, Kenya, Philippines and St Kitts and Nevis have improved their rankings, each moving up three places to 25th, 32nd and 37th respectively.
The biggest drop came from Antigua and Barbuda who have moved down six places to 44th, following the removal of their better results prior to March 2022.
St Eustatius have entered the WN World Rankings at 49th, having now played the minimum number of eight matches since 1st March 2022.
Following the annual update, Tanzania are the only team to have dropped off the rankings due to not having played the minimum of eight matches since 1st March 2022.
They will need to play one more match in the next 12 months to re-enter the WN World Rankings.
