Mavericks set for OVO Arena Matches
The Brentwood Centre, Ovo Arena Wembley and Hertfordshire Sports Village to host London Mavericks’ NSL matches this season.London Mavericks have today announced The Brentwood Centre and the Ovo Arena Wembley will host Netball Super League fixtures this season, in addition to matches at Mavericks’ traditional base of Hertfordshire Sports Village (HSV).
The relaunched Netball Super League (NSL) aims to host 50% of its games in arenas next year as netball enters a new professional era and continues to enjoy record growth, with an 11% increase in crowd attendance across last season. The complete NSL 2025 fixtures list will be unveiled on Tuesday 8 October.
As part of the new-look NSL landscape, the eight competing teams have been assigned their community regions with London Mavericks’ counties including East Essex, Essex Thurrock, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, London and Middlesex.
This is the first time The Brentwood Centre will host a Mavericks’ game and follows consultations with coaches, volunteers, teachers, fans and colleagues across the counties about venues that would make Mavericks’ matches more accessible to netball communities.
London Mavericks’ CEO Kieran Crombie said: “We are incredibly excited to be able to announce The Brentwood Centre as a new venue for our NSL 2025 season, alongside our games at the Ovo Arena Wembley and Herts Sports Village (HSV).
“Our HSV fixtures tend to sell out quickly, so this is a huge opportunity for more fans to be able to watch our games, and equally for our squad to enjoy playing in front of even bigger crowds. Having space at big venues will also enable the club to put on extra entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
“There is an incredible amount of netball talent in the East of England and a real passion for the sport. We’re looking forward to welcoming supporters from our new region to the Mavericks family and hopefully inspiring a lot of netballers and sports fans across the counties.”
“It’s crucial for us to ensure our matches are accessible to the whole netball community. That’s why we’ve worked hard to secure arena venues that cater to supporters in our Middlesex, London and East regions, while also staying true to our roots at Herts Sports Village. Both the OVO Arena Wembley and The Brentwood Centre offer excellent access within approximately 45 minutes’ drive from HSV. Wembley is within 20 miles, and The Brentwood Centre within 35 miles of Hatfield.
“Ahead of the NSL fixture launch on Tuesday 8 October, we would encourage Mavericks fans to register on our website, londonmavericks.co.uk, to take advantage of the priority booking window which will open on Thursday 10 October and enable fans to access our best priced tickets.”
London Mavericks’ Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway added: “While we love playing at HSV and are looking forward to catching up with many familiar faces there, it’s also brilliant for both players and fans to have games at arenas. There is something really special about that big match feeling.
“The experience at Wembley last season was incredible for fans and players alike. The squad was buzzing, running out to an electric atmosphere, so we’re looking forward to recreating that at Wembley and The Brentwood Centre, where we hope to see stands packed with Mavs fans, old and new!
“It’s a really good opportunity for more netball fans from the East of England to be able to enjoy top quality netball, who might previously have missed out on attending NSL fixtures due to distances involved. It’s so important to make NSL games accessible to as many sports fans as possible and we can’t wait for the fixture list to be unveiled next week and to start the season countdown.”
