Kira Rothwell Returns to London Mavericks for 2025

Fan-favourite Kira Rothwell is back home with the London Mavericks for the 2025 season.

After a stellar campaign that saw her shoot an impressive 88%, Rothwell has proven to be an invaluable asset in the attacking third.

Her composure, movement, and sharp shooting as a goal attack, combined with her ability to cause headaches for defenders at wing attack, make her one of the most versatile players on the court. With her precise footwork and netball IQ, Kira knows how to carve out space and create opportunities for her team.
The former England U21 international, who made her Netball Super League debut with London Pulse before joining the Mavericks two seasons ago, couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come for the team. The ambitious vision for the future of the London Mavericks project played a big role in her decision to re-sign.

“I’ve had a great two years here, and I’ve really felt supported in this environment,” Rothwell shared. “Knowing that a lot of the support staff and coaching team were staying on was a huge motivation for me. When the new investors and coaches came in and talked about what London Mavericks would look like going forward, it was so exciting. You’d feel like you were missing out if you weren’t part of it, and I knew I had to be involved in this amazing vision they have.”

Rothwell’s journey with the club has given her a deep understanding of what it means to be a Maverick, both on and off the court. It’s not just about the technical ability but the character and culture within the team.

“I think being a Maverick is about more than just being a great netballer,” Rothwell said. “From my experience, it’s about having good people around you who support each other, both on and off the court. It’s that kind of environment that ultimately helps us be our best when we’re out there playing.”

Tamsin Greenway, Director of Netball, is buzzing to have Rothwell back for another season and values the unique style she brings to the Mavericks’ attack.

“It’s fantastic to have Kira back,” Greenway said. “She’s the ultimate team player. The impact she had last year was incredible, coming on, changing games, and giving us a different style of goal attack. She’s a cut-and-drive type of player, and that’s something we need to keep our attack dynamic.”

As Rothwell enters her third season with the Mavericks, her focus is clear—climb the league standings and continue to grow as a player. This desire for constant improvement is one of the many reasons Greenway holds her in such high regard.

“Kira’s like a sponge, always eager to learn and deliver on court,” Greenway explained. “Keeping that young attack group together, especially her and Emma, was crucial for us. Now, it’s about building our pathway and getting players committed to us long-term. Kira’s return is a huge part of that.”

With Kira Rothwell in the fold for another season, London Mavericks fans have plenty to look forward to as the team gears up for an exciting 2025 campaign.
