Wasps seek fifth win in a row

Wasps Netball will look to register their fifth straight win when they face Sirens in the Vitality Netball Superleague.

Tamsin Greenway’s side will take on Sirens at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, April 23 (2pm centre-pass) – the team they convincingly beat in Glasgow on their Superleague debut earlier this year.

Sirens, who are also newcomers to the Superleague for 2017, have experienced mixed fortunes in their opening ten matches, losing both their fixtures last weekend.

The Scottish side’s wins have included beating the likes of Surrey Storm and Team Bath, leaving them still in the hunt for a top four finish.

Wasps Netball’s star goal attack Natalie Haythornthwaite said: “It was a solid match the first time we played Sirens, they’re looking for a top four place but we don’t have any plans to lose at home.

“I’m really excited about the direction the squad is going, we’re starting to gel and it’s starting to click out there on court. “We felt like we really showed our home fans what we are capable of in our last home game, we want to keep that going, play to the best of our ability and continue this winning run that we are on.”

Wasps Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway has warned that her players will need to be at the top of their game to beat Sirens and continue their impressive run of form.

She said: “Sirens are one of the teams hunting the top four right now, they have beaten some top teams this season so we will need to be at the top of our game. The team is very confident right now, we are in a good run of form and with the gap building between the rest of the pack and the top four, it’s down to us to cement our top four spot.”

“We know our fans will be out in force as always and we are fully focused on giving them another win to celebrate on Sunday.”

The Wasps Fan Village, in the Ericsson Indoor Arena, will be open from 12noon before the game on St. George’s Day, with a range of netball activities and challenges for fans to enjoy.
