Bongiwe Msomi joins Wasps Netball

South African international Bongiwe Msomi is the latest player to join Wasps Netball.

The pacey 28-year-old can play in the centre and at wing attack, and is one of the final pieces of Wasps Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway’s star-studded jigsaw.

Bongiwe has previously played for KZN Kingdom Stars in South Africa and played a pivotal role for her country at the 2015 Netball World Cup in Australia, helping South Africa to victory against Wales and giving a spirited performance in the 62-46 defeat to England.

Wasps’ new signing has also competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2011 World Netball Series.

Bongiwe’s arrival comes just a few days after Wasps Netball secured the services of last season’s top scorer, Rachel Dunn.

Wasps Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway said: “I first saw Bongi back at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She is such an incredible athlete, fantastic leader and quality player, which is why I was so keen to bring her back over and play at Wasps.

“She adds another dimension to the mid court and I know she’ll fit right into our Wasps environment.”

Other signings made so far this season include attacking sensation George Fisher, GA/WA Lucy Harris, and one of the best defenders in the league, Australian GD/WD Samantha May. Hannah Reid, Francesca Williams, Amy Flanagan, Josie Huckle, Sophia Candappa and Natalie Haythornthwaite have also signed up for the 2017 season.
