Jo Harten New Swifts Asst Coach

Jo Harten MBE Confirmed as Assistant Coach.

The NSW Swifts are pleased to announce Jo Harten MBE has been appointed Assistant Coach for the 2027 Super Netball season, joining newly appointed Head Coach Dylan Nexhip in leading the Swifts into an exciting new era.

One of the most celebrated figures in world netball, Harten brings 117 England caps, a Commonwealth Games Gold medal and international coaching experience to the Swifts, as well as having been one of the most influential and respected players to have thrilled fans in Suncorp Super Netball over the last ten years.

In addition to her specialist coaching role with the NSW Swifts in 2026, Harten has also been Technical Coach for the English Roses since 2023 and for the South West Mounties Magic in Netball NSW’s IMB Bank Premier League.

NSW Swifts Executive General Manager Jeremy Butler said the Club moved quickly to secure Harten.

“Jo has become an incredibly valuable part of our environment in a short period of time. She has a natural ability to connect with athletes, challenge them to improve and help bring out their best,” Butler said.

“As we continue building for the future, having someone of Jo’s calibre working alongside Dylan Nexhip gives us enormous confidence. Together they bring strong leadership, fresh thinking and a genuine commitment to helping our athletes and team succeed.”

NSW Swifts Head Coach Dylan Nexhip said Harten’s appointment is critical to demonstrating the Club’s commitment to a leading world-class high-performance environment.

“Jo Harten brings a rare combination of qualities and is someone who sees this game differently,” he said.

“Her understanding of the game, her ability to connect with athletes and her absolute commitment to bringing the best out of people makes her an outstanding addition to our coaching group.

“Together we will create an environment where our athletes are challenged every single day, where high effort is the standard and where respect sits at the heart of everything we do.

“We are united in our passion for helping our players perform. This is an exciting time to be a Swifts supporter and I cannot wait for our members and fans to see what this group is going to produce.”

Harten said she was excited to continue her coaching journey at a Club she has respected for many years.

“I have loved working with the squad both in training and on game day throughout 2026, and I’m excited to build on these connections as we challenge ourselves to strive for greatness in 2027 and beyond.”
