Fuel To Go & Play Associations Championships returns
The biggest weekend of netball returns this weekend, when the Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships gets underway.Taking place on Saturday, 30 May at the Gold Netball Centre and Perth Netball Association, More than 4,500 participants will take part in the three-day festival of netball, concluding on the WA Day Public Holiday when teams vie for the opportunity to be crowned champions.
Earlier this year the Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships was recognised by SportWest when Netball WA was awarded the Community Sporting Event of the Year at the WA Sport Awards.
Netball WA General Manager Community Beth Harvey said the excitement was building leading into the long weekend of netball.
“Players, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers and netball lovers mark this weekend in their calendar each and every year and we are excited for the competition to get underway,” Ms Harvey said.
“We will have more than 320 teams playing across the weekend with some making the trip from the far reaches of Western Australia for a big weekend of netball. We will also be hosting a strong contingent of teams from Singapore further strengthen our ties with Asia.
“Our Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships prides itself on inclusion and being an event for everyone. This year is no different 13 teams will take part in the No Limits Division plus two Boys Divisions which is extremely exciting for our sport.”
Members of the Green Army who are competing across the weekend will also have plenty of opportunities to Feel the Fever with matches finishing early on Saturday to allow teams to attend the West Coast Fever and Melbourne Mavericks game at RAC Arena.
