Super Cup Flies Into Town This Weekend
Since September 2021, the Scottish Super Cup Leagues continue to showcase the best in Scottish Netball from across the regions.
The teams created learning, leadership and skill development opportunities for Thistles team athletes to play alongside the best up and coming talent in Scotland and the resulting battles and matches reflected the passion and strength of the talent.
With two divisions; the Senior Super Cup and a supporting Development division. The talented emerging elite players of 14 – 18 years battled it out alongside the open division for 3 initial rounds leading into the Final play-off day.
In 2024, the Development Super Cup win was secured by Harriers in a nail-biting final game. This weekend, the 2025 Development Super Cup will commence featuring Scottish based athletes from across our U15, U17 and U19 National age-group squads within the four sides; Eagles, Hawks, Harriers & Falcons.
Head of Pathway for Netball Scotland, Rachel Cremin is thrilled that the Development Super Cup returns in 2025 and provides a safe and quality environment for emerging elite athletes.
“The Development Super Cup is critically important to giving players, coaches and umpires an intense and quality competition environment to develop their individual skills, team relationships and high performance behaviours.
Players will access training opportunities and match play days in which they are exposed to new players and new coaches within a condensed and intense competition phase. The competition provides an opportunity to access critical competitive opportunities but to also challenge those involved promoting learning and growth.”
Some of the country’s best coaches will be part of the competition, as coaches, as mentors and providing input to teams.
The Hawks and Harriers will feature some of our best 17s and 19s athletes with the Falcons and Eagles showcasing our emerging elite 15 year olds. Wear their colours, get around them and watch the athletes fly.
Netball Scotland would like to thank the staff, volunteer coaches and umpires and event volunteers that have contributed to making this competition possible. We feel that it is an important part of the pathway program and we thank all of the athletes, parents and support people for making this possible.
