Sasha Da Costa (nee Corbin) announced as Brand Ambassador
Sasha Da Costa (nee Corbin), is announced as Brand Ambassador for London Mavericks as the club ushers in a new era of the NSL.Sasha enjoyed an 18-year playing career, excelling in the mid-court for teams such as Mavericks, Team Bath, Loughborough Lightning, and New Zealand’s Northern Mystics, amassing a total of four Netball Super League titles.
On the international stage, Da Costa earned 71 caps for England, including being part of the squad at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. In her final act before retirement, she represented Barbados in the 2023 Netball World Cup alongside her sister Kadeen.
Mavericks head coach, Camilla Buchanan, described Da Costa as “the embodiment of what it means to be a Maverick.” Sasha captained the Mavericks for 10 years, playing a crucial role in their 2011 title-winning season.
“Mavericks is the first club I ever represented, so Mavericks have always felt like home. It’s embedded in my DNA.”
In her new role as Brand Ambassador, Sasha will be a key figure in London Mavericks’ content, amplifying the voices and personalities of the current squad, and attracting new audiences to the sport and the club.
“I’m excited for the London Mavericks in this fresh, new professional era and I want to help the club grow as much as possible.”
Her appointment coincides with the NSL’s 2025 relaunch, marking a significant step toward the push for professionalism within Netball.
“This new era of the NSL is really exciting. It’s great that players can become professional and not have to worry about other things. They all deserve their own spotlight and for young girls around the country, it’s great that they can have visible role models to look up to.”
