Nicholl to captain Sirens
Sirens have confirmed that Emily will be captain this season alongside Hannah Williams for 2024.
The most capped Sirens player, Emily Nicholl, and Loughborough Lightning alumna, Hannah Williams, are set to lead the Strathclyde Sirens in the quest for their best season yet.
In a move that underscores the team’s robust dynamics and strategic ambitions, the Strathclyde Sirens have officially announced their captains for the upcoming Netball Super League season, following a team vote that favored the leadership of Emily Nicholl and Hannah Williams.
Emily Nicholl to Helm as Captain
Nicholl, renowned for her unwavering commitment to the Sirens since its inception, has accrued more than 100 caps and is a pillar of the team’s success. Her appointment comes at a time when the Sirens are solidifying their strategies and aiming to climb the Super League ranks.
“It is such an honour to be named Siren’s captain, especially as it was a decision made by my peers,” said Nicholl. “My focus as captain will be to continue being myself, which I believe is the best way to lead and instil confidence within our squad.”
Hannah Williams Elevates to Vice-Captain
Williams, who transitions from the reigning Super League champions, the Loughborough Lightning, brings a championship pedigree and innovative approach to the vice-captaincy role.
“I’m massively grateful to be chosen as Vice-Captain, particularly after joining the Sirens this season,” Williams remarked. “It’s an exciting time for us as we build on our training and foster strong connections within the team.”
A Season of Aspirations
With an overhauled squad and a focus on speed, strength, and collective power, the Sirens are looking to not only improve on their 8th place finish from last season but to make a significant impact on the league standings.
