Rav staying in purple with new Firebirds deal
THE Queensland Firebirds have secured club captain and two-time premiership winner Kim Ravaillion to a new deal for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
Ravaillion, captain of the Firebirds for the past two seasons, will be featuring in her eighth campaign in the purple dress and goes into the year one game shy of her 150th netball national league appearance.
The 30-year-old’s ongoing importance to the team was highlighted as an ever-present in the 2023 campaign, racking up 708 Nissan Net Points in her 14 appearances.
A World Cup winner and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Ravaillion has made 60 appearances for Australia and is also a former Laura Geitz Medallist.
Her glittering career also includes being named the 2016 ANZ Championship Series Finals MVP.
“Kim is a tremendous athlete, netballer and leader,” Firebirds Head Coach Bec Bulley said.
“She sets a high standard of professionalism for the entire team to aspire to and her desire to win and achieve lies at the heart of everything she does.
“I am excited to have Kim as part of the 2024 group and working with her as we aim to continue to build on the foundations we established in the 2023 season.”
Lured from NSW ahead of the 2013 season, Ravaillion won the 2015 and 2016 premierships with the Firebirds before joining Collingwood Magpies in 2017.
After three years in Melbourne and sitting out the 2020 season while pregnant with daughter Georgie, Ravaillion returned to the Firebirds for the 2021 campaign and was appointed captain
