SEN to broadcast live games in Aus
The holder of the tenth SSN team have announced exciting live commentary next season in the SSN.
In an exciting first for netball in Australia, the Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has secured exclusive radio rights for Suncorp Super Netball and Origin Australian Diamonds matches, as part of a three-year agreement with Netball Australia.
Netball fans will be able to enjoy unprecedented coverage of the Suncorp Super Netball competition, with SEN to broadcast a ‘Match of the Round’ each week and every match of SEN’s newly acquired eighth SSN Team across its radio and digital platforms.
SEN’s radio coverage of the Diamonds will begin in October, with the newly crowned World Cup winners playing two international test series.
SEN will broadcast the 13th Constellation Cup between the Diamonds and the New Zealand Silver Ferns across SEN, beginning on Thursday 12 October in Melbourne, before heading to Brisbane on Sunday 15 October.
The teams will then cross the Tasman with the final games taking place in Invercargill and Auckland on Thursday 19 October and Monday 23 October.
Fans will have even more opportunity to sink their teeth into Diamonds’ matches with the South Africa Series hitting the court two days later.
The Diamonds will play their first-ever test match in Cairns on Wednesday 25 October, followed by matches in Hobart at MyState Bank Arena on Sunday 29 October and Tuesday 31 October.
Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan said this new deal will increase coverage for fans.
“This is an exciting step for netball, as it’s the first time we have been able to commercialise radio rights for the sport,” she said.
“We know there is more appetite than ever for elite netball. Suncorp Super Netball is the best netball competition in the world and the Diamonds are the reigning World Cup winners.
“We are looking forward to working with SEN to boost coverage for fans both domestically and internationally.”
SEN Chief Executive Craig Hutchison said this deal shows the group’s commitment to the sport, in addition to running the newest Team in the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
“We are all in on netball, and I’m thrilled to announce these broadcasting initiatives that will allow fans to enjoy even more netball action than ever before,” he said.
“There is a real appetite to follow the sport both domestically and internationally, and we look forward to delivering extensive coverage via our radio and digital platforms.”
