Scotland to face Northern Ireland in NWCQ

Scottish Thistles will go head to head tonight with Northern Ireland Warriors in the first of 2 big grudge matches.

Only two teams can qualify out of the six competing nations – Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and Gibraltar.

Head coach, Tamsin Greenway explains:

“The prep for this competition has been incredible, coming off the back on commonwealth games. There was a little bit of time off in the summer then it was straight back into camps for selection.”

“I think it was really important that we carried on that momentum that we felt at the Commonwealth Games. It’s crunch time now, they have worked really hard to be in this position and they’re ready for it.”

Team captain, Claire Maxwell adds:

“This is a really important week for us as a squad, we need to finish in the top two of this competition but we are up against some really fierce teams.”

“Once we are in the huddle, we have to be confident we’ve done all the hard work so it’s about embracing the moment and taking the pressure off ourselves and that is when we play to our best.”
