Paige Reid joins Rhinos
Leeds Rhinos Netball are pleased to confirm the signing of Future Roses star Paige Reed, 25, from Severn Stars for their 2023 Vitality Netball Superleague squad.
Reed, who covers goal attack and goal shooter, has been at Stars for three seasons after joining the club from Team Bath. She was an ever present for the side over the last two campaigns and in total amassed 675 goals in 44 games for the club.
She was selected for the Future Roses programme for 2022-23, having previously been involved in 2018-19. She has represented England at U19 and U21 level and was a travelling reserve in the England U21 squad for the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana in 2017.
Alongside playing with Leeds Rhinos Netball, Reed will be taking on a new role as Head Netball Coach at the Grammar School at Leeds. This is the start of a new partnership between the School and Leeds Rhinos Netball.
Speaking about her move to the Rhinos Reed said: “I am delighted to be joining the Rhinos, I am ready for a complete change and to see how it will help my development and career progression. I am so excited to be working with Liana again. From how we worked together on the court for the last few years at Severn Stars I think that it will be a fluid transition for me. I believe Liana is a really good coach and player and I have all faith in her that she will do a great job at the Rhinos.
“The Rhinos is a franchise that has so much potential, it’s a fairly new club but you can already see how professional it all looks and I just think with Liana being there as well it will take it that next step further and I am so excited to be part of that journey.”
Leeds Rhinos head coach Liana Leota added: “Paige is someone I obviously know very well from Stars from the last three years. I have played closely alongside her so know what a talent she is. With her being in the Futures this year I think this is really going to help her progress and set her up for her international career. She is creative with the ball, but also has a high percentage shot and I think Rhinos fans will enjoy watching her play next season.”
Paige is the eighth player to be confirmed for the Rhinos for the 2023 Vitality Netball Superleague season. She joins Brie Grierson, Vicki Oyesola, Michelle Magee, Rosie Harris, Nia Jones, Caroline O’Hanlon and Mille Sanders.
