INTERNATIONAL NETBALL
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW AHEAD OF THE OECS/ECCB INTERNATIONAL NETBALL SERIES
The rescheduled OECS/ECCB International Netball Series – 2nd edition begins this weekend and will run from the 11th – 19th February at the Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica.

The Series will involve hosts Dominica, as well as St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda. The first matches will take place on the 13th February and all matches will be streamed live on the Government of Dominica Facebook page.

MSOMI OPENS WORLD CUP LEGACY FACILITIES
As part of the Netball World Cup 2023 Legacy Project, Netball South Africa last week opened the brand new Luthayi High School Sport Facility.

World Netball Ambassador and SPAR Proteas captain, Bongi Msomi was part of the opening at her old school. Netball South Africa also launched ‘Netball Friday’ and you can watch the launch on YouTube now.

MORE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES FOR YOUNG AUSTRALIANS
Long-term netball supporter Woolworths has been named as the new naming rights partner of NetSetGO. The partnership with the supermarket will help more five to ten-year-olds to stay active and live healthier lifestyles, by learning the netball basics, getting outside and making some friends.

The additional three-year commitment from Woolworths is part of their Pick Fresh, Play Fresh initiative, which aims to inspire healthy eating habits in Australian kids through sport, helping them play at their best and follow in their heroes’ footsteps.

NETBALL SAMOA FEEDS COMMUNITY
The whole netball community in Samoa has been invited to get involved in supporting those in need during the current Covid-19 lockdown. As well as donating non-perishable food, everyone who took part in Netball Samoa activities in 2021 is able to nominate suitable recipients. Some international students from across the Pacific are stuck in Samoa, due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, so food donations will support them.

PUNJAB UNIVERISTY WIN PATKISTAN INTER-UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Pakistan Netball Federation and Punjab University ran the Pakistan Inter-University Women’s Netball Championships at the end of January.

22 Universities from all over the country competed in the competition, until Punjab University were crowned after beating IOBM Karachi 31-27 in the final. Well done to all involved!

DOMESTIC NETBALL
THE RETURN OF THE VITALITY NETBALL SUPERLEAGUE
The UK’s Vitality Netball Superleague retuned this weekend at the Birmingham Resorts World Arena. During the ‘Season Opener’, which was played across two days, all 11 teams, including many international netballers, took to court. England Rose Eleanor Cardwell, Malawi Queen’s Joyce Mvula and Towera Vinkhumbo and Scottish Thistle Emily Nicholl were just a few of the standout players in the opening rounds.
