Gibbons departs Thistles
Thistles have announced that Ella has decided to withdraw from the Thistles squad.
Scotland has been building towards the Commonwealth Games this summer and working hard with their national players to build the squad that will take the Scottish Thistles to the next level.
Therefore they have expressed sadness that Ella Gibbons has withdrawn from the Scottish Thistles squad. This was a very difficult decision for Ella to make, but due to the ongoing pandemic and her decision to remain in New Zealand she felt that there was too much uncertainty around travel, selection, and commitment to the squad.
Ella Gibbons received her first international cap in 2016 and has represented TeamScotland at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Ella said; “I am gutted to have to withdraw myself from selection for the commonwealth games this year. My decision has been a really difficult one as I understand the commitment necessary to prepare for the Games. However, I am unable to commit fully to the Thistles program due to ongoing travel restrictions, the global pandemic and my life in New Zealand. It is an incredible honor to pull on the Scotland dress and represent your country at such an awesome event. I will be supporting every player and the team the full way!”
Thistles have thanked Ella for her contribution to Scotland and we wish her all the best with her journey overseas.
