Kyra Jones announces “retirement”
The ex-p Dragons and Wales International Kyra Jones has announced her retirement on Facebook.
Kyra writes:
” After much reflection this past week, its now time to step back and retire from competative netball. Its been an honour and priveldge to be able to represent one club with 189 games and of those 164 in the Open Division, starting as young 15yr old – now very old (with 13yrs away in my second home of Wales), to have the opportunity to come back and take to the court back where it all began has been special. To share it with this special group of people has been great and even better to finally share the court with my Sister again!. We’ve had many highs and lows this year but it’s sport and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (Well sort off! Lol) ”
“To say Goodbye to the sport that has given me so much but has taught me so much more (Friendships, Loyalty, Respect, Hard work, Life skills and the list can go on…) is hard but it’s time now to focus on my family and everything in and around what is involved with doing that.
THANK YOU to absolutely everyone who has been apart of my journey since I first started, to the coaches who pushed me to be better, to my mum who drove me everywhere and supported me no questions asked, to my husband and daughter who have supported and been there for me, to my sisters who have ‘told’ me, to the players (past and present) and to the friendships I have made for life. Its been an absolute pleasure but for now its Goodbye 👋 and let’s see what’s next!”
Thanks Kyra
