The latest from Netball NI
Re: Extended suspension of all programmes, events and competitions.
The Board of Netball NI following consultation with Senior Staff and Committees have updated the position of NNI to extend the suspension of netball activity indefinitely and plan a return to training, delivery and competition in line with the NI Executive step phased Pathway to Recovery programme issued yesterday.
The health and safety of members, staff, volunteers and officials is priority for Netball NI and our decisions should be respected and must be followed by all clubs, officials, schools and social groups.
Netball NI will continue to monitor and review the situation on an ongoing basis and will communicate additional updates as they arise.
Netball NI staff are continuing to follow NI Executive advice working from home and can be contacted via work emails/mobiles during usual working hours.
For information – 19/20 domestic season
The NNI Board having reviewed all relevant information support the recommendations proposed by NNI Participation and Schools Committees, as such the following the decisions have been made:
Schools Netball 19/20 season: All competitions conclude at the stage they were when lockdown restrictions were imposed, finalists will share trophies.
Club Netball 19/20 season: NNI will endeavour to support the completion of outstanding matches when it is safe to resume competition in advance of commencing a 20/21 season. Most leagues within the domestic set up had been completed before restrictions were implemented. It is estimated it would require 4 weeks to allow completion of the remaining matches. This situation will be monitored with all options explored to support competition completion however amendments may be required as we move through the pathway to recovery steps.
Please note – NNI league competition will be the priority when competition is permitted to commence.
Our Netball family have been supportive, patient and resourceful over these challenging weeks and we are proud of how our clubs and members have responded to this situation. We encourage all our members to continue in this vein and respect the guidance given by the NI Executive. Please continue to adhere to the rules to assist in the progression through the 5-stage phased Pathway to Recovery to allow us to get back to doing all the things that we love and be with our loved ones.
Netball NI social media will continue to be a source of information and all things netball over the coming weeks, keeping us connected and motivated with tips and ideas allowing us all to be ready to get back on court as soon as it is safe to do so.
Our motto has never been so relevant #StrongestTogether
