A few weeks into the season and we are already celebrating 200,000 downloads since we started in 2017.
As the longest established weekly podcast here in the UK we’re delighted to be able to share this news and it follows off the back of our nomination in the British Sports Journalism Awards too!
The Netball Show is celebrating after recent download figures have shown 200,000 supporters of the game have enjoyed the weekly updates from all aspects of our game since it started in 2017. It’s aim is to raise awareness and coverage of the sport in the UK, which has a strong but under-served fan base.
Andy Lamb, Sacha Shipway and Natalie Morris started the podcast to share updates from the Superleague teams and since then they have built up strong relations with players, clubs and those involved in the game at all levels. The team was even shortlisted in this year’s British Sports Journalism Awards in Best Audio/Radio Category where it was the only independent production against the BBC and talkSport.
“A huge thank you to The Netball Show you really have helped us take our message to new audiences.” Fran Connolly – CEO England Netball
Sacha said: “The fact we were nominated and got this industry recognition in the Journalism Oscars is a huge testament to what we have achieved.”
“It’s been great to have someone else so supportive of Northern Ireland” Karen Rollo – Executive Manager Netball Northern Ireland
Natalie: “We were the only UK based Netball podcast providing daily updates from last year’s Netball World Cup that was held in Liverpool and we have never seen such download figures”
“Thank you for everything you do, the reach and visibility that you get is great so massive thank you” Sarah Jones – CEO Welsh Netball
Andy: “ I am so pleased when I look back on where we started to now and to have the respect of governing bodies, players and franchises over this time is huge. If you’ve been there from the start or just joined us I think there was a joke somewhere around season 3!”
“Thank you for giving our sport, from the chief executive to the players and the fans, a voice – we love working with you” Claire Nelson – CEO Netball Scotland
The team produce the show on a voluntary basis further demonstrating our passion for the sport. In this time we have created a much-loved, well-respected podcast from humble beginnings that has lead the way in broadcast coverage of netball in this country.
