Beth to miss Netball World Cup and rest of 2019 SSN

England Netball is sad to announce that Vitality Rose Beth Cobden ruptured her ACL on Saturday whilst playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds, against the Melbourne Vixens.

Cobden was playing WD in Round 3 of the Suncorp Super Netball competition when she injured her knee upon landing.

Scans have confirmed that Cobden has ruptured her left anterior cruciate ligament and will require surgery to repair the damage.

Beth Cobden will miss the remainder of the 2019 season and will also be unavailable for selection to the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool this July.

Tracey Neville, Head Coach of the Vitality Roses, said: “Beth is an exceptional athlete and her contribution to our team over the last four years has been influential in the success of the Roses. To miss out on her first opportunity to go to a World Cup is devastating and we will do everything we can to ensure she is back on court soon.”

The Adelaide Thunderbirds are currently working to secure a replacement athlete for the rest of the Suncorp Super Netball season and will make an announcement in the coming days.

Melody Cooper, General Manager of Adelaide Thunderbirds and Elite Pathways, said: “The entire Adelaide Thunderbirds team are feeling for Cobden.

“We are saddened by the news regarding Beth’s season-ending injury and our priority right now is supporting Beth and ensuring she is okay.

“Beth possesses amazing strength and will overcome this challenge. We love the contagious attitude Beth brings to the club and our focus is now on providing her the best recovery and rehabilitation.”
