Netball Scotland appoint new chair

Following our Annual General Meeting on Saturday 9th September 2017, Netball Scotland is delighted to announce that we have appointed a new Chair with immediate effect and welcome Caroline Mansley into the role.

A highly experienced business professional with an extensive and highly accomplished background across multiple global markets with some of the most recognized and respected brands in the world, Caroline has for the past 9 months been steering the Sirens Management Board as their Chair.  Coupling this experience with her professional credits, Caroline is delighted to now be taking on this new role of Chair of Netball Scotland.

“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as Chair of Netball Scotland, and at such an exciting time as well! I have been working very closely with the whole Netball Scotland team for the past 9 months in my role as Chair of Sirens and I have been extremely impressed at the depth of capability they all bring to the table. I am looking forward to working even closer with them and helping them extend the reach of this wonderful game across Scotland and ensure we take our best performance to the Commonwealth Games next year in the Gold Coast.  Being involved in sport on and off the court, course and pitch, has been so important to me throughout my life, making me a more-rounded, but driven individual. High performing teams drive great results – that’s a fact – my role is to ensure the team have the right levels of support, funding and infrastructure to develop and perform as best they can each and every time they take to court.“

Claire Nelson, CEO of Netball Scotland said – “Caroline has an impressive background in business, having held senior roles with AIG and Lloyds Banking Group. She is accomplished in designing and deploying business and IT strategies, leading complex transformational programmes, coaching teams to think creatively and increasing organisational agility, and brings with her a wealth of business and commercial expertise that are critical for our organisation at this time.

Caroline has very big shoes to fill and we will dearly miss Freda after 6 impressive years at the helm. But both myself and the NS Board are delighted with the appointment and look forward to welcoming Caroline into her new role.”

Outgoing Chair, Freda Hutchison, leaves behind an impressive legacy from her time in post, as she saw the organization through a period of significant growth and transformation.

Freda Hutchison, Chair of Netball Scotland (2011-2017) said – “In my role as Chair of Netball Scotland for the past six years I have to say it has been an absolute pleasure to be involved in the national governing body at such an exciting time of its development. I am immensely proud of our achievements and feel privileged to have played a very small part in our history and development of Netball Scotland alongside the rest of the dedicated Board, our fantastic staff and all of our enthusiastic volunteers.  I will absolutely miss my involvement as Chair tremendously and want to thank you for all your support, and friendship. I wish our new Chair, Caroline Mansley, all the very best and I know she will continue to move our organization positively and to greater heights. The future of netball in Scotland is very bright indeed and will continue to shine even brighter each year due to the sheer number of people in our netball family who love our sport and are willing to work towards our vision for the future. Netball in Scotland is definitely on the rise!”

Everyone at Netball Scotland thanks Freda for her incredible work as Chair and wish her the best of luck in the future.
